Executive Coaching: Feeling Overwhelmed? Start with 3 Easy Steps

Recruiting the right executive can be stressful for Board Members, Founders, and other leadership team members. Great candidates do not tend to fall from the sky or line up around the block.

BEFORE you launch a search, begin by asking yourself the following. In going through these steps, you will increase confidence and develop metrics to sustain you through the search process.

  • What gaps need to be filled in order to scale your organization? And how much time do those require?
  • Based on those gaps, what critical experience is needed? Make a complete list. Afterward, bucket them into groups, which will ultimately become the skillsets desired in the candidate.
  • Write the job description based on these elements.

With all of this information on board, the tactical work can begin: develop a timeline.  At 360, we start with the end in mind and so, work backward.  When is the executive needed? How much time might they need to leave their current organization? Gantt charts can help outline the steps and refine the timeline.

Ensure your executive hire is a long-term solution by being mindful from start to finish.
